Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) is a brief, evidence-based psychotherapy designed to help people process and reduce the emotional impact of traumatic memories, distressing images, and related symptoms. Rather than erasing memories, ART helps change the emotional and physical reactions those memories trigger.
Using guided eye movements and mental imagery, ART helps the brain process difficult experiences in a new way. Many clients experience meaningful relief in as few as one to five sessions, with some single-incident traumas resolving even sooner. One unique benefit of ART is that clients can process memories without having to describe every detail aloud, making it an effective option for individuals who find discussing painful experiences difficult.
ART has been used to address concerns including:
Recognized as an evidence-based treatment by the Society of Clinical Psychology, ART offers a structured, client-directed approach that helps many individuals experience relief while building hope for the future.
